The idea of the new Le Central was born in Autumn 2023.

Over the years, so many people have come to love La Tzoumaz for its friendly, cosy and welcoming atmosphere and it was with this in mind we chose to go back to the old name ‘Le Central’, which is reflective of the location and the important role this place plays in La Tzoumaz' social life. We have carried that idea and philosophy forward into all our decisions for the concept, the food, drink and the design of the new Le Central.

The team believe that attention to detail, and doing a few things really well, is the key to success, and so we decided to focus on being a great bar and ‘petite restauration’; serving excellent food focused on the specific needs of seasonal visitors, residents and locals. We also believe that it’s incredibly important to support the local community in Riddes and Valais, which is why we have worked hard to find excellent local suppliers for our food and drink. We have some of the best wine Valais has to offer including award-winning Luisier and Les Fils Maye. Our coffee is produced by La Semeuse, an ethical local coffee roaster and supplier, our draught beer is brewed locally by Midi Bières in Riddes and Bartis in Saxon, the meat on our assiettes is produced, cured and prepared by Boucherie Evequoz in Riddes, and our cheese is from a fromager in Isérables. Wherever possible all our food ingredients are bought locally and of Swiss origin.

At Le Central, we wanted to create a space where families and friends could relax at any time of day, and so the idea of ‘Le Salon’ was born - a living room and a home-from-home - with sofas and cosy spaces where friends and families relax, have a glass, talk and play games 'tous le jour'. To furnish Le Salon, we found and bought comfortable and characterful furniture from all over Valais and Vaud, which also supports our principles of recycling and reuse. And where we needed to buy new furniture, we chose items made from 100% recycled material, such as the chairs in the Bar area.

We also know that the most important part of the Le Central experience is the team in the kitchen and the bar - we are committed to making Le Central a welcoming, friendly, relaxed and fun place for all.
